Hi everyone, my name is Mark Joseph Rivera, and I’m 45 years old. I started cutting hair in 1999, more than 25 years ago. What’s special about my story is that nobody taught or trained me to cut hair. I believe it was something I was naturally gifted with. My very first haircut was a flat top, and my first client was my big brother. After I finished his haircut, my cousins saw it and said, “Joseph, you know how to cut hair! Cut my hair too!” That’s how it all started. For many years, barbering was my side hustle while I worked full-time jobs. I continued cutting hair in the Philippines, and even when I worked abroad — one year in Kuwait and five years in Saudi Arabia — I never stopped cutting hair. Over the years, I realized that cutting hair wasn’t just a side job for me. It became my passion. I love making people look good and, more importantly, helping them feel confident when they leave my chair. After more than 25 years of cutting hair, I finally decided to take a big step and open my own barbershop. And that’s how Joseph’s Barbershop was born. This shop is not just a business for me. It represents years of experience, hard work, dedication, and a genuine love for barbering. I’m very thankful to my family, friends, and all the people who supported me throughout this journey. And to every client who walks into Joseph’s Barbershop — thank you for trusting me. This is something I truly love to do.
